Why SkillBites? SkillBites
currently offers over 200 programmes, called eBriefings. Each ebriefing
has been divided into modules of learning called ‘Bites’.
Each Bite contains up to 20 minutes of learning.
Most e-learning
systems work on ‘pull’ technology, which means that
users must go online to visit the providers website to carryout
their learning. They may have to do this at very specific times
for lengthy periods. For most people this is difficult due to important
or unforeseen work pressures.
The SkillBites
platform uses ‘push’ technology, which means that the
learning comes to the learner. SkillBites will email registered
learners daily learning Bites from e-briefings they have subscribed
to, enabling them to choose where and when they learn.
If learners
want to complete an entire ebriefing in one go they can do so by
visiting the SkillBites site and either work through the programme
online or print off the Bites to complete later. The choice is theirs.
Each ebriefing
contains study links to further information, which supports and
builds on the learning available on the e-briefings.
Each ebriefing
also contains at least one quiz / test which enables registered
users to test their learning. SkillBites also records the results
of the quiz / test and informs the user which Bite/s they should
revisit.
Unlike most
e-learning systems where client companies have to pay for each programme
individually, the content on the SkillBites system is available
to all registered users for the duration of the licence.
Subjects
Currently each
of the e-briefings are contained within 9 faculty headings which
are:
Communicating
Managing Yourself Managing Others
Managing Business Health & Safety Sales & Marketing
IT HR & Training Finance.
When you purchase
a license for your own branded system then these faculties can be
renamed, removed, condensed or completely new faculties added by
those with controller’s access.
Future
Content
In addition
to the current resource library available on SkillBites, any new
content developed by Progress for the above faculties, within the
SkillBites SBS system will automatically be offered to Corporate
Solution Users at no additional cost. It will then be the decision
of the site controller whether or not the material should be added
to their system.
Any content
that is designed specifically for Corporate Solution Users will
only be available to those who have authorised access to that system.
